Following my PhD in 1991, I did my Post Doctoral Research during the period 1992-1994 at University of Texas, Austin, USA. I started my career as a lecturer teaching undergraduate courses in civil engineering at University of Mysore, Karnataka during 1983-1984. Later, I worked as a project assistant at IIT Delhi from Dec 1986-April 1987. From April 1987 to January 1988, I was associated with Central Pollution Control Board, Ministry of Environment, Goa as Assistant Environmental Engineer. I joined the department of Civil Engineering, IISc as an Assistant Professor in 1994 and is associated with the department since then. Presently, I hold the position of Professor in Geotechnical Division of Civil Engineering Department. I have held positions as visiting professor at Dalhousie University, Canada, Yamaguchi University, Japan and University of Waterloo, Canada. I also occupied the position of a visiting scientist at University of Oxford and University of Leeds, United Kingdom. Currently, I am a member of Program Advisory Committee (PAC) for the nationally coordinated programme on seismicity under Ministry of Earth Sciences, New Delhi and member of Expert Committee on ‘Microzonation of urban centre Bangalore’ (DST, Government of India) and ‘Microzonation of Delhi’ (Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India). I was also a member of Programme Advisory and Monitoring Committee (PAMC) for the nationally coordinated programme on Seismicity from Feb 2006 to Feb 2008 (DST, Seismology Division, Government of India). |
